From 2016 to 2018, we developed and produced the video series 1:1 Berliner Architekturdialoge – 1:1 Berlin Architecture Dialogues in collaboration with the BDA - Association of German Architects. The format brings together two architects in a live setting, where they discuss their work both in front of an audience and for the camera. Across 12 events, a Berlin-based, established architect engaged in dialogue with a counterpart of similar standing from Austria or Switzerland, addressing both fundamental and contemporary questions in architectural discourse, as well as broader cultural and societal differences.

Video
Our aim in developing the video and set design was to move beyond a conventional documentation of a talk. By positioning the speakers face to face and arranging the audience around them, we created a spatial tension that functioned both as a film set and as a live situation. The lighting design established an intimate atmosphere for the conversation while enabling a high-quality recording.
The architects were invited to work with materials during the discussion – sketching, annotating, or presenting references –which were captured via an overhead camera and simultaneously projected for the audience.
